Affordable Luxury Apartments

3rd Year

My project aims to aid Sheffield’s 10-year growth scheme by creating a handful of rented luxury affordable apartments, primarily aimed at young professionals and postgraduates wanting to live in Sheffield. The 10-year growth scheme states “We want our growing city to have good quality homes, with the choice and affordability to attract and retain people.” Everyone should have an equal opportunity to a good starter home therefore by providing a desirable space to live it should encourage young professionals to want to live in the city, helping the economy to grow, whilst also creating a cohesive community within Sellers Wheel. My main objective is to create cost effective indulgence in Sheffield City Centre.

Floor Plans:

On the ground floor I have created a bistro that will be open to the public throughout the day and into the night, it includes a bookable private dining space and outdoor seating. There is also a ‘parcel room’ where the residents can collect their post or store bikes, along with a residents only gym. On the roof, I have developed a rooftop garden with a BBQ and seating area for the residents to use as their own private outdoor space, it also includes 12 planters meaning each apartment gets two plant boxes to grow their own greenery. Additionally, I have designed 6 individual apartments; on the first floor there are 4 x 1-bedroom apartments and on the second floor there are 2 x 2-bedroom apartments. These all include important amenities such as storage rooms, work from home stations, private entrances and large open plan living spaces.
